After an early three by the Sabers, the Falcons would grab the lead for the rest of the contest 1:07 in on a triple scored by Josh Humphrey (Matthews, NC). That started an 8-0 run capped by a CJ Woodberry (Lexington, NC) tip in giving Pfeiffer a 9-3 lead. The Falcons would open things up midway through the first half streaking out on a 14-2 run led by Montez Singleton (Charlotte, NC) and Humphrey free throws. Woodberry and Tayron Gibson (Dumfries, VA) helped Pfeiffer grab their largest lead at 20 on two different occasions late in the first before Barber Scotia cut it down to a 14-point margin at the half 43-29.
Thomas Scott (Fort Washington, MD) helped the Sabers claw back to within 11 at the 13:19 mark of the second half but another 14-2 run put the hosts back up 23 after an AJ Clark (Burlington, NC) layup with 8:29 to play. Clark would contribute another layup with 4:45 remaining to give the Falcons the largest lead of the night at 24 before closing out the 20-point win.
Humphrey led the way for the Falcons scoring 18 while finishing one board shy of a double-double. Gibson would do the same after finish with 12 and nine on the night. Clark and Woodberry each chipped in with a dozen while Singleton added 11 in the win. Wednesday’s decisive advantage came in the rebounding department as Pfeiffer dominated the glass 55-34 despite being outshot by the Sabers.
Pfeiffer will now take the next four weeks off for winter break before getting back to action in the New Year on January 2nd. The Falcons will host the Lions of Mars Hill at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of 2013.
