Box Score

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University senior Christina Harvey (Locust Grove, VA) poured in a game-high 23 points on a perfect night of shooting leading the Lady Falcons to a 63-49 victory over Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action on Monday night. The victory marks the fifth-straight for Pfeiffer as they improve to 10-0 at home, 16-3 overall, 11-3 in league play. The Crusaders see their three-game win-streak come to an end falling to 10-9, 9-6.

A Brittany Cox (Winston-Salem, NC) three and layup, along with Harvey’s first layup of the night, shot the Lady Falcons out to a quick 7-0 start. Belmont Abbey would come back and grab their first lead of the night with a three-pointer by Caitlin Ranson (Cary, NC) at 14-13 midway through the opening half.

After an Alyx Ingram (Cary, NC) layup put the visitors up 20-15 with 8:26 left, Pfeiffer would close out the half on an 11-0 run to take a 26-20 lead into the locker room. Harvey would account for six of those 11 points while a triple from Kellie Rhoney (Catawba, NC) and jumper by Carter Williams (Harrisonburg, VA) provided the other five.

Half through the second period, a Melisa Foures (Kernersville, NC) layup temporarily sliced the Crusaders deficit down to eight at 44-36 before Pfeiffer rolled during the final 9:23. Three-straight triples from Jodie Lemons (Madison, NC) immediately shot the lead out to 17 over a 90-second stretch before a pair of Rhoney free throws pushed the advantage to 19, 57-38, with 5:13 remaining in the contest. That would end of being the Lady Falcons largest lead of the night as Belmont Abbey would convert five late free throws for the 63-49 final margin.

Harvey’s game-high 23 was on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting night from the field while converting 11-of-12 free throw attempts. Lemons would follow registering a huge double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Cox concluded with 14. Pfeiffer held a 41-37 edge in rebounds while capitalizing on free throws hitting 19-of-20 attempts.

Pfeiffer returns to action on Thursday night traveling down to North Greenville for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with the other Crusaders. Live stats/video will be available through http://www.gofalconsports.com.
