Women's Tennis Suffers 5-4 Heartbreaking Loss at UNC Pembroke to Kick Off Spring 2013 Slate

PEMBROKE, N.C. - Host UNC Pembroke rallied to take four of six singles matches to barely snag a 5-4 victory over Pfeiffer University in non-conference tennis action on Friday. The Braves improve to 2-0 on the year while the Lady Falcons fall to 0-3.
Pfeiffer grabbed a 2-1 lead after doubles thanks to Taylor Lindsay and Valeria Mendoza rolling 8-0 at #1 while Hannah Watson and Chelsi Haefele doubled up in victory 8-4. In singles, Watson and Mendoza scored the points for Pfeiffer. Watson had to rally after a 6-4 first set loss to win 7-5, 7-6. Mendoza would cruise in straight-sets 6-3, 6-4.
The Lady Falcons get right back to action on Saturday continuing their three-match in three-day stretch at Shaw. The matchup in Raleigh is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
