Men's Tennis Wins Second-Straight with First Shutout of 2013

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Pfeiffer University men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over host Guilford in non-conference tennis action on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons even to 2-2 on the young season while Guilford drops their season opener.
Orlando Castillo and Luis Villalta had a perfect 8-0 victory at #2 doubles to start the day while Ethan Lyon and Sebastian Wernecke cruised 8-1 at #3. Ben Hunter and Loic Minery also won comfortably 8-3 in the first doubles position.
In singles action, all six players won in straight sets as four of those matches were identical 6-1, 6-1. Werencke at #1, Minery at #2, Villalta at#4 and Bret Williams playing at #5 scored easy victories. Hunter would pick up a 6-0, 6-3 win at #3 singles while Jimmy Molina needed a few extra games scoring a 6-4, 7-5 victory at #6.
Pfeiffer will get back to action on Wednesday hosting Catawba in a make-up match from rain last Monday afternoon. Doubles play will begin at 3:00 p.m.
