February 19, 2013
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Pfeiffer University found the back of the net six times in each of the first two periods en route to doubling up Roberts Wesleyan 16-8 in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon. The 11th-ranked Falcons improve to 3-0 on the year while the Redhawks fall to 0-2.
Tuesday's match was moved from Pfeiffer's on-campus N.E. Lefko Field down south to Charlotte at the Harrisburg Road Soccer Complex due to unplayable field conditions in Misenheimer.
James Shepherd led the way with a game-high five goals while Spencer Allen added three. Allen would also have three assists in the victory for a six-point afternoon. Robert Hope would lead the Falcons with four assists on the day as Pfeiffer took 45 shots in the contest. Dom Cianfarano paced the Redhawks with four goals and an assist in the loss while Brett Capps found the back of the net twice.
Each team would win exactly half of the 28 faceoffs on Tuesday while Pfeiffer picked up 37 groundballs to Roberts Wesleyan's 32. Both teams would combine for 45 turnovers and 22 penalties covering 20 minutes of action.
Pfeiffer gets back to action on next Tuesday traveling to region-rival Catawba for a 4:00 p.m. contest with the Indians.
