March 3, 2013
MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Pfeiffer University received another five-goal performance from Ashleigh Kassab in a 19-3 victory over visiting Southern New Hampshire in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon. The victory pushes the Lady Falcons to a school-best 5-0 start to 2013 while the Penmen drop their season-opener.
Pfeiffer would score the first seven goals on Sunday to get out to a quick, comfortable lead. Kristi Korn started the day 2:32 into the contest while Kassab hit on the front and back side of a Carly Garrison goal. Garrison would hit for the seventh goal after Sarah Daly tallied back-to-back scores before SNHU got on the board thanks to Kayleigh Dube. The Penmen would score three of the half's final four goals as Dube added one more after Shannon Bonnel scored for the Lady Falcons.
Garrison and Kassab would trade two goals apiece to start the second half before Katherine Athens, Delaney Miller and Whitney Jaffe scored their lone goals late in the period. Korn would add two more to close out including the game's final tally with 20 seconds left. The Lady Falcons defense would hold Southern New Hampshire scoreless over the final 32:29 on Sunday.
Behind Kassab's five goals, Garrison would notch four while Korn picked up three. Daly and Bonnel would record three assists in the win while Britton Muir scooped up five groundballs. Athens would again dominate the draw controls capturing eight on the day. Freshman Cassidy Wilson would make six saves in net, three in each half, to pick up the win.
