Oliver Named Women's Tennis Player of the Week After Back-to-Back Match-Winning Points

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University's Briana Oliver has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Tennis Player of the Week during week six of the 2012–2013 Tennis season. Oliver (Austin, TX) clinched both Conference Carolinas victories this week at #5 singles as the Lady Falcons scored a pair of 5-4 wins at Barton and Mount Olive over the weekend.
At Barton after an 8-4 win at #3 doubles with Melinda Athay, Oliver clinched the crucial fifth point with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #5 singles. Oliver was nearly identical at Mount Olive with another 8-4 win with Athay in doubles before reeling off five-straight games in set two to clinch a 6-3, 6-2 win in singles for another narrow one-point win. Oliver has now won four-straight singles match, all in league play, and six-straight doubles contests with Athay.
The Lady Falcons are back in action on Tuesday hosting Limestone at 3:00 p.m. before welcoming Lees-McRae on Friday. The Lady Falcons will wrap up the week with a non-conference tilt at USC-Aiken on Sunday morning.
