Seven-Goal Outburst in Third Quarter Propel #10 Men's Lacrosse Past Queens 14-8

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Down 4-3 at the half, 10th-ranked Pfeiffer University stormed back with seven third quarter goals cruising late to a 14-8 victory over Queens in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse action on Wednesday night. The Falcons win their fourth-straight improving to 8-1 overall, 2-0 in league play. The Royals see their two-game win streak come to an end dropping to 4-4, 2-1.
Steven Tilmon and James Shepherd each picked up first quarter goals while the Royals sandwiched a pair in-between for a 2-2 game after 15 minutes of play. Queens would take the halftime lead with a man-up goal by Tyler Van Horn and even-strength goal by Garrett Chan with 2:51 remaining to provide the one-goal difference. Tilmon would hit again for the only Falcon goal of the period.
Tilmon, along with Cole sheen, would start the third quarter barrage striking within the first five minutes while Connor Morgan tried to keep Queens around with a goal at the 7:55 mark tying the contest at 5-5. Pfeiffer would take over with five-straight goals over a 4:36 span to put the nationally-ranked Falcons up 10-5.
Pfeiffer would add fourth quarter insurance with three goals from Kory Lutes, Elliot Gilbert and Robert Hope to gain the largest lead of the night at 13-6. Hope would tally the Falcons final goal with 4:50 remaining to cap off a three-goal night.
Hope, Tilmon and Shepherd would end the night with three goals apiece while Hope also added two assists. Khalid Stukes would win 14-of-23 faceoffs and scoop up 10 groundballs to aid the Falcon victory. Hayden Kirk came up big in net once again making 13 saves for Pfeiffer.
