Softball Struggles Continue in Pair of League Losses at Queens
March 27, 2013
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Pfeiffer University softball suffered a pair of setbacks on Wednesday afternoon dropping 6-4 and 12-2 decisions at Queens in Conference Carolinas softball action. The Royals improve to 13-16 overall, 4-4 in league play while the Lady Falcons drop to 12-20, 4-8.
Pfeiffer got off to a great start in game one thanks to a Sadie Saine solo blast to centerfield. After a Queens three-run homer capped off a four-run third, the Lady Falcons responded with three in the fourth using a two-run single by Sam Taylor and single to left by Emily Workman. Two more unearned runs in the sixth would plague the Lady Falcons in the 6-4 loss.
In game two, Queens put four runs on the board in the first and seven in the second to race out to an 11-0 lead. Pfeiffer's bright spots in game two would come with an Ashlee Ellen RBI single in the third and a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
Pfeiffer gets back to action after the Easter break traveling to Francis Marion on Tuesday afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader.
