Men's Tennis Clinches Playoff Spot with 6-3 Road Win at Erskine

DUE WEST, S.C. - Pfeiffer Unviersity took a 2-1 lead after doubles then recorded four more points in singles play to defeat host Erskine College 6-3 in Conference Carolinas men's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons, who clinched a playoff spot with the win, improve to 10-6 overall, 5-4 in league play. The Fleet fall to 7-12, 4-5 with the loss.
Loic Minery/Ben Hunter picked up an 8-2 win at the #1 doubles position while Sebastian Wernecke/Ethan Lyon shutout their opponents at #3 8-0. In singles, both Minery and Hunter were victories in straight-sets as Minery went two and three at #1 while Hunter cruised one and four at #3. Jimmy Molina would pick up a 6-0, 6-3 win in the fifth position while Stephen Miller secured the Falcons' final point with a 7-5, 6-0 win at #6.
Pfeiffer will now look towards the 2012-2013 regular season finale on Monday hosting Queens at 3:00 p.m. The annual conference tournament will take place next weekend in Burlington.
