Lady Falcon Softball Storms Back for Game Two Win to Earn Split at Belmont Abbey

BELMONT, N.C. - Host Belmont Abbey College and Pfeiffer University split a Saturday afternoon Conference Carolinas doubleheader to begin the final regular season weekend of the year. The Crusaders improved to 10-30 overall, 3-15 in league play with a 9-1 game one win while the Lady Falcons slide to 20-24, 8-10 after a 5-1 victory in the nightcap.
Pfeiffer lone bright spot in the opener came in the top of the first as a Hannah Jackson single to right, sacrifice bunt by Sadie Saine and infield single by Celia Dew gave the Lady Falcons a 1-0 lead. Belmont Abbey would then go on to score all nine runs unanswered starting with six in the bottom of the second. The Crusaders would out-hit Pfeiffer 12-5 in the opener.
Game two saw the Lady Falcons set the tone early with all five of their runs in the top of the first starting with a Sam Jarmusch bases loaded walk. Dew would later pick up two more RBI on a single to right scoring Ashlee Ellen and Saine before Jarmusch scored on a throwing error later in the frame. Julianna Bullington plated Dew with the final run on a sacrifice fly to center.
Jarmusch would pick up yet another win inside the circle tossing all seven frames allowing an early first inning runs while scattering eight hits in the victory. Jarmusch would also fan four during her afternoon.
