Currier Adds Ben McDonald to Pfeiffer Basketball Staff

“I am thrilled to welcome Ben McDonald to our staff,” stated Currier. “Ben possesses the character, knowledge, skill, and work ethic that we look to build our staff with. He has a tremendous energy and passion for the game. He'll be a valuable asset to our program in all areas as we move forward."
McDonald comes to Pfeiffer from Cortland, New York, where he ran Status Pro Athletics and was the Athletics Coordinator and head coach basketball coach at Southern Cayuga Central High School. As the founder of Status Pro, McDonald specialized in strength and conditioning and on court player development for high school, college, and professional players. McDonald built Status Pro into the premier basketball training program in Central New York. As the head coach at Southern Cayuga Central High School McDonald led the 2012-13 Chiefs to their highest win total in the last decade.
“I’m really excited to be here and be part of the Pfeiffer University basketball tradition,” McDonald said. “It’s a privilege to be part of Coach Currier’s staff; my goal is to be a good representative of this team and university. I pride myself on making players better, and it will be my goal with each of our players to make them as good as they can be individually, because that is a key to making our team better.”
In 2009, McDonald served as an assistant coach at Cazenovia College. While at Cazenovia, McDonald assisted head coach Michael Bowser in day to day operations, skill development, and oversaw the Wildcats strength and conditioning program. While coaching at Cazenovia, McDonald earned his Masters of Science in Sport Management at SUNY Cortland. McDonald earned certification from the International Fitness Professionals Association to become a certified strength and conditioning coach.
McDonald graduated from Cazenovia College in 2008 with a degree in Professional Studies with a concentration in Sport Management. McDonald graduated Magna Cum Laude while serving as President of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Community Organized for Student Success. McDonald was a four- year letter winner as a member of the Cazenovia College Wildcats varsity baseball, basketball and golf team.
