Pfeiffer Baseball Camp Brings Elite Coaching Staffs to Work With Area Youth
September 10, 2013
MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University baseball coach Dusty Blake will be holding a pitching clinic on November 16 from 8:30-5:00 p.m. The Pitching 360 Clinic is for kids ages 10-17 and features coaches from North Carolina, Duke, Virginia Tech, UNC-Asheville and Wofford, as well as the Pfeiffer coaching staff.
The one-day clinic gives campers the opportunity to work with some of the best pitching coaches in the area during this in-depth pitching tutorial. Campers will watch film, throw bullpen sessions, go through a binder of pitching information, and work hand-and-hand with Division I and II coaches. Athletes will also work with a strength and conditioning coach and nutritionist who has worked with the top pro baseball players from the Carolinas.
Duke Head Coach Chris Pollard will be present. Pollard was Pfeiffer’s head coach from 2000-2004 before moving to Appalachian State and then become the Blue Devils’ manager. Pollard guided Pfeiffer to 41 wins in 2004, a school record. Pollard coached the Mountaineers to six straight 30-win seasons.
Also present will be Robert Woodward, Virginia Tech pitching coach. The Charlotte native finished 34-5 as a Tar Heel pitcher with a perfect 22-0 record at Boshamer Stadium. A three-time All-ACC pick, Woodard is the only pitcher in Carolina history to rank in the career top 10 in wins, winning percentage, innings pitched and strikeouts. He also ranks among top 10 in Atlantic Coast Conference history in victories and innings pitched. Woodward would go on to be drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 20th round.
On top of Pollard and Woodward, UNC Associate Head Coach/Pitching Coach Scott Forbes will work with the young hurlers. Forbes was named the College Baseball newspaper’s 2008 National College Pitching Coach of the Year.
