Golf Opens Season at Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C Ė The Pfeiffer menís and womenís golf teams kicked off their 2013-14 campaigns by competing in the Anderson Invitational. The women finished in seventh place, while the men came in eighth.
The women were paced by Danielle Haizlip who shot identical 79ís in the first and second round and her score of 158 was good for sixth place overall. Following Hizlip were teammates Lauren Lyle and Stefania Valgeirsdottir who each shot a 168 over the two rounds. Sarah Baldwin and Allyson Heinz rounded out the top-five for the Lady Falcons who shot a 671 as a team. Erskine won the event with a team score of 633.
On the menís side, the squad finished with a team score of 619. David Weinberger led the charge, shooting rounds of 73 and 80 to place inside the top-20 overall. Jesse Vensel shot a 77 in each of his rounds and A.T. Cashwell finished with a score of 156. UNC Pembroke fired a 592 to finish on top on the menís side.
The men and women return to action on Sept. 30 when they travel to Bristol, TN and compete in the King University Invitational.
