Pfeiffer Tennis Competes In Conference Carolinas Fall Tournament


SUMTER, SC – The Pfeiffer men’s team competed in the Conference Carolinas Fall Tournament hosted by the Palmetto Tennis Center and performed well. A host of Falcons advanced deep into the competition.

In “A” singles competition, Loic Minery won his first three matches in straight sets, advancing to the finals as the #1 seed before falling to Matt Finnerty in the finals, 6-3; 6-3. On the consolation side of “A” competition, Sebastian Wernecke advanced to the finals by defeating teammate Axel Woerner. Zach Huffman performed well in “C” singles and advanced to the finals before dropping the match to Stefano Soares of Limestone.

In doubles action, Wernecke and Bret Williams won two matches in the “B” bracket and advanced to the semifinals. The team would be defeated by the top-seeded pair of Stanley Roffe and Brahm Moolman from Mount Olive. Pfeiffer sent two teams to the “C” doubles finals, as Huffman and Stephen Miller advanced to take on the team of Orlando Castillo and Jimmy Molina with the latter winning the flight, 8-2.

The Falcons return to action on Friday, Sept. 20 when they kick off the regular season with a trip to Queens at 2 p.m.
