Tennis Teams Dominate at Methodist Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Ė The Pfeiffer menís and womenís tennis teams competed at the Methodist Invitational hosted by Methodist College over the weekend. Each team boasted strong performances, with the women dominating their brackets.
The Lady Falcons won seven of the eight flights they competed in and they took home third place in the only event they didnít win outright. Valeria Mendoza won Singles Flight 2 and teamed with Taylor Lindsay took take home the top spot in the first doubles competition. Hannah Watson won third singles, winning all six sets she played in. Mylene Petitpas stormed through fourth singles, losing only six games en route to the victory. Briana Oliver won fifth singles and the paired with Petitpas to win third doubles. In second doubles, Olivia Nelms and Watson won by scores of 8-1, 8-3 and 8-2 to take the crown.†
The Pfeiffer menís tennis team also had a great weekend led by Loic Minery and Sebastian Wernecke who defeated the top pair from Methodist University to win the Methodist Fall Invitational.† The pair was perfect in doubles together going 4-0 and combining for a 7-1 record in singles.† Jimmy Molina and Zack Huffman combined to win the consolation championship defeated a formidable pair from Lynchburg College in the final pairing of the weekend.†
This wraps up the fall portion of competition for the two squads who will both be back in action in early February.
