Women's Soccer Defeats North Greenville on Senior Day

Box Score

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – On Senior Day at NE Lefko Field, sophomore Aaliyah Jackson scored in the eighth minute to give the Pfeiffer women’s soccer team (7-5, 4-2 CC) a 1-0 victory over conference foe North Greenville (4-7, 1-4). Senior goalkeeper Natalie Marsh made three saves on the afternoon, and has not allowed a goal in 310 minutes this season, to improve her record to 4-0.

In a pre-game ceremony, Marsh, Leticia Patino, Mandi Roan and Sarah Yates were honored and the Lady Falcons came out inspired. Jackson was streaking down the left wing and fired a shot that keeper Kathryn Tate got a piece of, but Jackson corralled the rebound and put it in the open net for her fifth score of the season. Shortly after, Brae Buster found herself open in the box and her shot got passed Tate, but just sailed wide.

The rest of the contest was dominated by the Lady Falcons, although they weren’t able to tack on any insurance goals. North Greenville took their third shot of the contest at the 27 minute mark of the first half, and would not get off another shot the rest of the contest, a 63 minute span. The Lady Falcons ended the match with 17 total shots, and put nine on net.  Kaitlin Sampson and Katlyn Stevens each fired three shots apiece and Jackson and Yates put two on net.

Pfeiffer also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. Tate made eight saves in the loss for the Crusaders.

The Lady Falcons return to action on Oct. 16 when they host Brevard in non-conference action. The match is set for a 1 p.m. kick off.
