Women's Volleyball Blanked by Belmont Abbey

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's volleyball team (7-18, 4-9 CC) fell in straight sets to conference-leading Belmont Abbey (20-3, 13-1) on Tuesday evening. The win pushed the Crusaders winning streak to 14 matches, dating back to Sept. 20. Hannah Schellenberg posted a match-high 12 kills for the Crusaders, while Brianna Jones and Shelby Younger paced the Lady Falcons with nine kills apiece.
Belmont Abbey hit an impressive .385 for the match, with only eight hitting errors. In comparison, the Lady Falcons finished with a .103 percentage and 25 errors.
The Crusaders won by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-18 on the evening.
Emily Wall and Lauren Carman each dished out a game-high 15 assists, while freshman Haley Denny had 10 digs. Sophomore Kelsey Blauser led Pfeiffer with three total blocks in the contest, and Nicole Mueller had two service aces.
Pfeiffer's best set was the third, where they had a .308 hitting percentage and committed only four errors. However, the Crusaders were too much for Pfeiffer and used a 7-1 spurt late in the set to run away with the win.
Tonight's match marked the final road battle on the season for Pfeiffer, who finish the year with six straight home games. 20 of the Lady Falcons first 25 matches have come away from Misenheimer.
The Lady Falcons return to action on Friday evening when they begin a three match in 24 hours stretch. Pfeiffer takes on North Greenville at 7 p.m. before taking on Erskine on Saturday at noon and Emmanuel on Saturday evening at 7 p.m.
