Women's Volleyball Records Second Highest Hitting Percentage of the Season in a 3-2 Win

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - For the second time this season, the Pfeiffer women's volleyball team (8-21, 5-11 CC) defeated Mount Olive (13-14, 9-7) in five sets. Junior Kelly Lancellot slammed home the decisive point to secure the fifth set victory, 16-14.

Three Falcons finished in double-digits in the kills category, led by 14 from sophomore Brianna Jones. Freshman Shelby Younger added 13 while sophomore Kelsey Blauser chipped in 10 for Pfeiffer whose .254 hitting percentage was their second highest total on the season. Blauser's .421 hitting percentage was the highest in the match and Lancellot hit .368. 

Emily Wall handed out 29 assists, while Haley Denny had a team-high 14 digs. Blauser contributed seven total blocks and Denny finished with four aces.

The Lady Falcons posted their most impressive effort of the season in the second set, a 25-13 win, hitting .750 as a team with only one error to go with 16 kills.  

Pfeiffer dropped the first set 25-21, but recovered to win back-to-back sets, culminating with a 25-21 set three victory. Mount Olive roared back with a 25-22 win to force a fifth set.

The visitors took the first two points and four times pushed the lead to two points. Trailing 9-7, Pfeiffer rallied to score three straight and take the lead. The Trojans responded with back-to-back points to regain the upper hand. The teams' alternated points until Mount Olive held a 14-13 lead. Younger's kill tied the game and then a service ace from Lauren Carman moved the game to match point, setting the stage for Lancellot's winner.

The Falcons return to action on Friday night as they host Senior Night prior to their 7 p.m. match against Converse.
