MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University fourth-year men's basketball coach, Jeremy Currier, has announced the signing of Charlotte prep standout guard, Stefan Kostic, for the Falcons’ 2014-15 recruiting class.
“We are extremely excited to have Stefan join the Falcons basketball program,” Currier said. “Stefan is an outstanding young man that is driven and disciplined both on and off the court. He is a fundamentally sound player that is incredibly efficient on the court.”
Last season, the Serbian native led the Charlotte United Christian Academy to a successful season while earning All-Region and All-Conference honors, as well as being named the Charlotte Area Christian Athletic Association Player of the Year. Kostic averaged 18.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game as a junior. He was identified by the Charlotte Observer as the Regional Player of the Week on January 15, 2013.
Last summer, Kostic helped PSB Select AAU earn the 17U Big Shots Championship at Clemson University, AAU Super Regionals Championships, and the Gold Summer Championship.
Rick Lewis, Recruiting Director for the Phenom Hoop Report and Director of the Phenom 150 Camp stated, “Stefan is a smart, heady and cagey point guard that plays with poise and confidence. He has an excellent understanding of the game and can make shots, but also can use his size and strength to get into the lane and create opportunities for himself and his teammates.”
Kostic joins a Pfeiffer basketball program that is the youngest in the Conference Carolinas and currently 2-2 for the season. The Falcons currently have the highest scoring backcourt tandem in the league in freshmen Mike Smith (Lexington, KY) and sophomore AJ Clark (Burlington, NC) as they combine to average a staggering 44 points per game. 6’11’’ sophomore center Silvere Aluko (Manchester, NH) is currently leading the league in block shots per game at 3.75 per contest.
“Stefan fits in great with our guys, and will be a key contributor for our basketball team” said Currier. “His ability to pass and make shots is complimented by his defensive intensity. Like many of our current players, Stefan loves getting in the gym and working to improve his game every day.
