December 4, 2013
MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (1-7, 0-1 CC) was held without a field goal for over 18 minutes and fell to Mount Olive by a final score of 59-36 in their Conference Carolinas opener. The Falcons were held to 26 percent shooting from the field and didn't have a player score in double figures. Katie Paschal led the Trojans with 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field and Jasmine McDonald added a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Alexis Stallard's three point basket tied the contest at 12 apiece just five minutes into the contest. However, the Falcons dry spell stretched the rest of the half as they failed to convert a field goal. Stallard's free throw at the 6:43 was the only point scored by the Falcons in that stretch, as the Trojans used a 18-1 run to take a commanding 30-13 lead into the half. Vivian Doerr ended the streak as she knocked down a three pointer just over three minutes into the second half.
McDonald pulled down 10 of her 13 boards in the first 20 minutes. The Trojans outrebounded Pfeiffer 26-7 in the second half.
Stallard and Doerr led the way with eight points each while Lauren White added seven points and three blocks.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday evening when they host Limestone at 5:30 p.m. at Merner Gym.
