Men's Volleyball Falls to #12 Penn State; Hirini Continues Kill Streak

UNIVERSITY PARK, P.A. - The 12th-ranked Nittany Lions handed the Pfeiffer men's volleyball team their fifth loss Saturday night, besting the Falcons 3-0 in a non-conference matchup. With the loss Pfeiffer drops to 3-5 overall and Penn State improves to 8-2 on the season.
Sophomore Sonny Hirini led the charge for the Falcons, knocking down ten kills on 21 attempts. Hirini has now put up double-figure kills in every game this season, extending his streak to eight matches. Pfeiffer had a solid assist effort from junior David Specian who put up 27 for the match, and an impressive defensive performance from junior Joe Supko who led all players with four assisted blocks. The Falcons bested the Nittany Lions in the team block category putting up seven and a half blocks to Penn State's four.
Penn State took the match by scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-19. Aaron Russell led all players with 17 kills and was closely followed by his teammate Nick Goodell who knocked down 15 kills of his own.
Pfeiffer returns home on February 11th when they take on conference foe Mount Olive at 7:00 p.m.
