Women's Golf Completes Pinehurst Challenge


PINEHURST, N.C. – After the conclusion of the final round, the Pfeiffer women’s golf team advanced one spot on the leaderboard as they finished 16th.  The Falcons scored one better than the first round as they turned in a team score of 89 over par 377.

Armstrong took a commanding first round lead and did not look back as they finished first as a team shooting a combined 62 over par 638; 27 strokes above second place Lee University.  The Pirates competed well individually, as Jenna Birch took the overall individual medal.  Armstrong’s number two and three golfers rounded out the top three on the individual leaderboard.

Pfeiffer was led by Stefania Valgeirsdottir who turned in a team best 33 over par 177 as she finished tied for 47th.

Lauren Lyle finished with a score of 36 over par 180, finishing in a tie for 56th.

The Falcons will return to action Monday, March 31 as they travel to Travelers Rest, S.C. to compete in the 2014 Cliffs Intercollegiate Tournament.
