Men's Tennis Suffers Loss at No. 28 Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Pfeiffer men’s tennis team (12-4, 5-3 CC) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end with a tough 8-1 loss at Mount Olive (13-1, 7-0 CC) on Saturday afternoon. Mount Olive came into the contest ranked No. 28 in the nation and ran their winning streak to 10 straight.
Pfeiffer’s lone win of the day came in first singles as the team of Loic Minery and Sebastian Wernecke bested Mount Olive’s top pair of Edgar Bub and Rik Wolthuis by a final score of 8-6. Doubles play would end with the Trojans taking second doubles 8-1 and third doubles 8-6.
The Trojans swept through singles competition without a blemish. Axel Woerner was the only Falcon to win a set before falling 6-3, 3-6 and 6-1.
Pfeiffer returns to action next Saturday in their regular season finale when they travel to Central, SC to take on Southern Wesleyan at 1 p.m.
