Women's Volleyball Picked to Finish Seventh in Preseason Poll

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Pfeiffer women’s volleyball team was predicted to finish seventh in the Conference Carolinas preseason coaches’ poll. The Falcons return five starters from a season ago and are primed to exceed expectations.

The Falcons return three of their top four leaders in kills from a season ago. Leading the way is senior Kelly Lancellot who has played in 77 career matches and has 519 kills to go with 176 total blocks. A season ago, Lancellot finished with 176 kills and a team-high .234 hitting percentage. Sophomore Shelby Younger has the most kills of all returners as she totaled 192 in her rookie season. Junior Kelsey Blauser contributed 183 kills along with 31 service aces and a team-leading 85 total blocks.

On the defensive side, sophomore Haley Denny is back following a successful freshman season. Denny tallied 363 digs and was second on the team in service aces with 32. Junior setter Emily Wall paced the team with 548 assists and 43 aces in 2013.

Pfeiffer added a host of talented newcomers to the program, led by defensive specialist Hope Moua and outside hitter Shenelle Charlot.

Pfeiffer begins its season as the host of the Falcon Classic on Sept 5-6. The Falcons take on Shepherd at 6 p.m. on Sept. 5.
