Men's Basketball Announces 2014-15 Schedule
August 29, 2014
MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer men’s basketball coach Jeremy Currier has announced the Falcons 2014-15 schedule. Pfeiffer plays seven straight home games to start the season and eight of their first nine games will take place inside Merner Gym.
In exhibition play this year, the Falcons will take on two Division I programs on back-to-back days. On Nov. 14, Pfeiffer will travel to Norfolk, VA to play a Norfolk St. team that is just two years removed from beating Missouri in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The next afternoon, the Falcons take on Winthrop who went 20-13 and went to the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
“We are fortunate to prepare for our rigorous season by playing early games against two of the fastest up-and-coming programs in the country,” said Currier.
The regular season tips off on Nov. 17 as Pfeiffer hosts Barber Scotia at 7:30 p.m. which begins the string of home games.
“I am very excited that our first seven games will be in Merner Gymnasium in front of our fans. We have the best fans in the conference and I’m happy that our new players will feel the love and support immediately,” commented Currier.
Pfeiffer won’t have much time to get ready for conference play as their second game of the season pits the Falcons against last year’s co-regular season champions, the Mount Olive Trojans.
The final game of the first semester will be on Dec. 20 as Mars Hill comes to Misenheimer for a non-conference matchup.
Conference play is in full swing after the holiday break as 16 of the final 17 games are within the league. Pfeiffer will hit the road for six games in a 17 day stretch in early January before returning home on Jan. 23 against Erskine. The regular season wraps up on Feb. 24 when the Falcons travel to Belmont Abbey at 7:30 p.m.
“It’s going to be a very exciting year for us,” said Currier. “We will be challenged every night during conference play and we have tough games against in-region opponents as well.”
