Falcons Do Well At First Tournament

Sumter, SC---The Pfeiffer women's tennis team played well at the Conference Carolinas Individual Tournament this weekend at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, SC. The team went 17-11 in singles play highlighted by Patty Dominguez making the semi-finals in the A Draw. Patty Dominguez had an excellent tournament by getting to the semi-finals of the A Draw before losing to the #2 seed, Merissa Rock(Queens) by a score of 6-3,6-4. Mia Bobrowski also had a great run, with a big come from behind win over Rachel Lemar 4-6,7-5(10-5). Mia trailed 5-2 in the second set before making her comeback. She then lost to the #3 seed Alexandre Gade, but won two more matches to make the finals of the A Draw Consolation Bracket. Juliana Reyes was also very solid. She won three matches overall. Freshman Catie Thomas had a big first collegiate match win over Hannah Howerton(from defending conference champion Erskine). Coach Smith said, "I was very pleased with all of the girls matches. They played hard and represented Pfeiffer well."
