| Sumter, SC---The Pfeiffer women's tennis team picked up two huge wins as they finished third at the Conference Carolinas Tournament this past weekend. The fifth seeded Falcons upset #4 Mount Olive in the opening round by a score of 5-4. After losing to #1 seed Erskine in the semis, 5-0 ,the Falcons took out Lees-McRae 5-3 to take home third place. The Falcons upset #4 Mount Olive in the first round, 5-4. After falling behind 2-1 after doubles Pfeiffer stepped up their play in singles. Heather Smith had a huge win at #5 singles to evn the match at 4-4 and left Juliana Reyes at #4 as the deciding match. Reyes fell behind 5-2 in the third set but turned it around top win five straight games and give the Falcons the win. In the semi-finals Pfeiffer fell to nationally ranked Erskine 5-0. Pfeiffer pushed the Flying Fleet in doubles losing 8-6 a #1 and 9-8 at #3 but were still down 3-0. Pfiffer fought hard in singles but couldn't pull out a mtach. In the 3/4 match the Falcons defeated Lees-McRae 5-3 when Mia Bobrowski won a 10-8 tiebraker in the third set to clinch the win. Again the Falcons fell behind, 2-1, after doubles. However the low end of the singles line-up swept the Bobcats and set up Bobrowski's clinching victory. Catherine Thomas was named to the All-Tournament team for the Falcons.
