| PFEIFFER LOSES TO LIMESTONE |
| Saturday, 01 March 2008 | |
| Senior night at Limestone College proved to be quite a challenge for the Pfeiffer Falcon men's basketball team as they lost 89-82. Limestone shot 17-25 from the field in the first half including 8-13 from the 3-point line to take 20 point lead 44-24. Pfeiffer battled back in the second half as they have done all year to cut the lead to two points on two different occasions but could not ever take the lead. Limestone shot 64% for the game to Pfeiffer's 42% and Limestone also won the rebounding battle 38-27. Alvin Slaton had his best scoring game of the year with 18 points and four other Falcons were in double figures. Robert McGriff and Jeff Pettiway had 13 each, Thomas Carr had 12 and Derrick Truesdale added 10 points. Chris Woods again led Pfeiffer with eight rebounds. "We always get people's best shot, but the way our opponents have been making shots over the last week is unbelievable," said Pfeiffer coach Dave Davis. "I was not sure if Limestone would ever miss in this game. I credit our guys again for handling adversity and battling as they always do to get back into this game and give us a chance to win. It wasn't like Limestone ever cooled off as they sot 59% in the second half as well. We shot poorly from the field and missed opportunities for 14 additional points at the free throw line. It is a credit to the character of our young team that we can have an opportunity to win when the shooting stats are so different and we get out rebounded. We were diving all over the floor and taking charges throughout the second half. We battled to the bitter end." Pfeiffer finishes the regular season in 2nd place in Conference Carolina's with an overall record of 20-7 and a conference mark of 15-5. The Conference tournament begins on Monday at Pfeiffer at 7:00pm with a familiar opponent Limestone. If the Falcons win they will host another conference tournament home game on Thursday. |
