| Misenheimer- The Pfeiffer softball team split a non-conference double header at home Saturday. Game one saw Mars Hill jump out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Pfeiffer then answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame. With two outs junior pitcher Dacia Ijames reached first on an error, sophomore Sarah Moore and junior Jaimee Cassidy both singled to tie the game at one. But the offense wasn’t finished as Jessica Culler ripped a two out to strike pitch to left center plating two more. Pfeiffer went on to add an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning after a one out double by Stephanie Bethea followed consecutive singles from Martina Bullard and Ijames. In the circle Dacia Ijames went the distance giving up 1 run scattering 8 hits, walking 2 and striking out 3. Game two saw Mars Hill score one in the second, three in the fourth, six in the sixth and two more in the seventh, as they went on to defeat Pfeiffer 12-4. Bullard, Ijames and Cassidy combined for six of the Falcon’s 10 hits in game two while sophomore catcher Ashley Morris added a double. “In the second game we just couldn’t seem to keep momentum on our side” Head Coach Todd Bradley said. “Over all I thought Beck threw pretty well, but we need to make sure we get out of an inning when we have the opportunity.” The Falcon’s return to action Sunday February 18 when they travel to Newberry.
