Columbia, SC---Four members o the Pfeifer men's tennis team competed in the USC Fall Inviational this past weekend. The tournament featured over 200 athletes fom 35 different schools.
The highlight of the tournment was AJ Flores and Johan de Wit reaching the semi-finals of their doubles flight. They opened the event with a 8-1 thrashing of a team from D-I UT-Chattanooga. In the Quarter-finals they took out a team from Gardner-Webb, also a D-I school, 8-5. In the semis they had their chances but fell to a team from South Carolina State 9-7. In singles, De Wit picked up his first college win when he defeated Jams Maclachlan, from Francis Marion, 6-3,6-0. Ryan Kerr played a very tough match against a player from D-I Jacksonville State but fell in the end 6-4,6-3. "The tournament consisted of 90% of players from D-I schools so we knew going in it was going to be a very tough event. After this weekend we know we can play with anybody on our schedule," said Coach Potter. |
