TEAM PFEIFFER CYCLING WINS AT VT

Blacksburg, VA --† After a hard fifteen mile hoop is circled several times, the finish line of the Virginia Tech road race can be seen after a grueling two and a half mile climb that proves to be difficult for even the best climbers.† Despite the challenging course, Team Pfeiffer Cycling prevailed and captured the win at Virginia Tech.

Pfeiffer freshman Steve Schott (Coraopolis, PA) proved to be the best Falcon of the day taking a strong 2nd place win in the menís A race. Fellow freshmen Turner Johnson (Renfrew, PA), Joey Rosskopf (Decatur, GA), and Michael Brown (Kernersville, NC) came in 4th, 5th, and 20th, respectively. Freshman KC Fee (Wesley Chapel, FL) placed 5th in the womenís A race.

Finishing on the circuit below the mountain in the menís C race freshman Aaron Blackwell (New Orleans, LA) took 7th and senior BJ Harris (Midway, NC) placed 19th.† In the Dís, freshmen Alex Stratmann (Lewisburg, WV) was 21st and Cameron Auton (Indian Trail, NC) crashed out.

At the end of the day Pfeiffer placed 1st overall in the road race.

Later in the afternoon, Pfeiffer raced in the team time trial.† The Pfeiffer A team won by catching and passing the North Carolina State University team.† The menís D team took a strong 3rd place after catching and passing Appalachian State University.

Sundayís crit race had a steep uphill finish.† Despite the challenging end, Rosskopf took 1st place.† Johnson, Brown, and Schott finished in 6th, 10th and 15th place, respectively. Matt Tyndall (Newport, NC) placed 11th even after racing with an injured shoulder. BJ Harris took 5th and Aaron Blackwell finished 9th in a hotly contested C race. KC Fee took 4th in the womenís A race.

In the overall Atlantic Collegiate Cycling Conference (ACCC) individual standings Joey Rosskopf remains number one in the menís A division.† Alex Strattman stands at number one in the menís D field.

Pfeiffer has one regular season conference race left at Appalachian State University April 11 and 12. The ACCC Conference Championships will be held at Wake Forest April 18 and 19. The championship race will be in downtown Winston-Salem on April 19.
