FALCON CUP
Falcon Cup is a joint effort by SAAC to create a more well rounded student athlete. It is a team competition designed to encourage participation in school activities while rewarding academic and athletic excellence.
Awards
All school teams will compete and accumulate points through out the year to be tallied toward the Falcon Cup and Top Team awards. The Top Team Awards will be presented to the male and female teams who accumulate the most points over the course of the academic year. The Falcon Cup will be awarded to the most well rounded team of the year. That is the team that earns points in all categories while portraying a positive student athlete image. The Falcon Cup award will also include a decision by the coaching staff and athletic training staff concerning the best overall team attitude. The Falcon Cup maybe awarded to one of the Top Teams or another team who shows excellence in these categories:
Academic Excellence- Honor Roll, culture credit earned in a semester as a team, Team GPA, Scholar Athlete awards, other academic school awards
Athletic Excellence- Conference and School Athletic Awards, Championships, Player of the Week, Meeting attendance (SAAC)
Personal and Career Development- workshops, speakers
Community Service- Service done as a team (ex. Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life)
Falcon Spirit- Game attendance (Home and away), FCA pre-game activities, Homecoming events, April Fest events
Point Accumulation
Points are earned when a team participates in events falling into the previous categories. SAAC will track points earned in the academic and athletic excellence categories. Points earned in the other categories will be written up and turned into the captain mailbox. Only SAAC representatives are allowed to write up an event and have it count towards team points. Point reporting cards will only be taken within the week of the actual event and will be tallied every week. Points will be calculated as a percentage of the total team present in order to keep the competition fair between the large and small teams. Each event will be out of 100%. Teams will be able to earn extra points if their coach attends events. Points and upcoming activities will be updated weekly in order to encourage a competitive spirit.
