MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Junior Nick Brindley (Northampton, ENGLAND) netted a hat trick with three second half goals to lead the Pfeiffer Falcons to a 6-1 Conference Carolinas win over the visiting Belmont Abbey Crusaders in men’s soccer action Saturday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field. With the win, the Falcons improve to 3-2 overall, 1-0 in CC while the Crusaders fall to 1-2-1, 0-1.
Pfeiffer had early opportunities in the first half with Alex Landim (Brockton, MA) having a couple of good looks against Crusader goalkeeper Brandon Alvarez (Dallas, TX). Landim would finally cash in during the 28th minute as Jeff Cannon (Lewis Center, OH) found Landim for a shot taken just outside the 18-yard box for his second of the season and a 1-0 Falcons lead. Just 24 seconds later, Kash Knight (Gibsonville, NC) would score his team-leading fifth of the year thanks to a stolen and one-touch pass from Renato Barbosa (Charlotte, NC). Belmont Abbey managed five shots in the first 45 minutes with only one on goal.
Brindley tallied his first of the afternoon in the 61st minute off of helpers from Landim and Jeff Cannon (Lewis Center, OH). The Crusaders lone goal would come on a penalty kick scored by Emmanual Yamson (Silver Springs, MD) in the 72nd minute. Brindley would tally his own PK three minutes later, before completing the hat trick in the 81st minute. Ethan Sacco (Concord, NC) and Wilver Menacho (Charlotte, NC) would pick up assists on Brindley’s final tally. Fahret Salihovic (Charlotte, NC) would bring Pfeiffer’s goal total to a half-dozen with an unassisted goal in the final five minutes.
The men’s soccer team will return to Lefko Field on homecoming weekend at 2:00 p.m. to take on the Anderson Trojans in another Conference Carolinas matchup. The Falcons next match takes place next Saturday at Queens.
