WINGATE, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University women’s cross country team finish third out of ten teams at Saturday afternoon’s pre-regional meet at Wingate University. Lindsey Phillips paced the Lady Falcons with a third place finish out of 71 runners with a time of 25:28. Pfeiffer finished the 6k race with 81 points, trailing Anderson and Wingate for the top spots.
Phillips trailed Whitney Bishoff of Anderson by just 81 seconds for a potential first-place individual finish. Kaitlyn Mullis came across the line second for the Lady Falcons in 11th place overall, just in front of teammate Magen Abernathy in 12th. Mullis finished just two seconds in front of Abernathy with a 26:44.
Other finishers for Pfeiffer included Rachel Biggerstaff in 21st place clocking in at 28:22, Yasmin Ingram in 34th place with a 30:21 and April Hinson with a 41st overall finishing with a 31:41.
Head coach Scott Nolt was impressed with today’s efforts. “The team stepped up today and although we were missing four runners, had a good team finish” said Nolt. “Anderson is really good. I think if we would have had everyone out there, it would have been a good race. Lindsey [Phillips] had a great race today. She was in the front all race and barely missed coming in 2nd. She continues to get better every week. Magen’s effort today was incredible. She has been sick the last couple of days and collapsed at the finish after holding on to a top-12 finish.”
