DAYTONA BEACH, F.L. – Pfeiffer University finished 11th out of 12 teams in women’s golf action over the weekend at the Lady Falcon Invitational hosted by Daytona State College. Chelsea Demers paced Pfeiffer during the two-day event at the 6,118-yard, par 72 layout of the LPGA International Golf Course. Demers shot a first round 77 and finished with an 85 to finish in a tie for 31st with a 162.
Host Daytona State won the event with a total of 604 firing a 303 and 301 during the weekend. Pfeiffer shot 333 and 353 for a total of 686. Daytona State trailed Florida Southern after day one by seven strokes, before making a 16 stroke swing in day two.
Mitsuki Katahira of Daytona State took home medalist honors with back-to-back rounds of 74 for a 148. Katahira finished one stroke better than Anna Haglind of Barry and Thalia Baigorria of Lynn.
For the Lady Falcons, Rene Kelly finished T-43 overall after rounds of 83 and 87. Jackie McMenimon finished 51th with a 173 (82/91) while Elizabeth Johnson and Alison Cowles completed the tournament with a 185 and 187 respectively.
Pfeiffer’s next tournament will take place October 12-13 at the Nova Southeastern Invitational in Davie, FL.
