MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Freshman newcomer Julianna Prim (Yadkinville, NC) shattered three school records in Saturday afternoon’s annual Black and Gold meet with the men’s and women’s swim teams at Pfeiffer University. Prim broke records in the 100 Free, 100 Fly and 200 Individual Medley.
In the 100 freestyle, event one of the day, Prim eclipsed the old record of 53.97 set by Julie Busfield in March of 2001 with a 53.39. In event two, the 100 fly, Prim crushed the 15-year old record of 1:01.19 by Rebecca Spera set in March of 1994. Prim clocked in with a 58.50 setting the new record by almost three seconds. The third and final record-breaker came in the 200 IM as Prim set the new mark at almost a second faster than Jaime Jones did back in 1999 with a time of 2:12.75.
The women’s swim team gets the 2009-2010 season underway on Saturday, November 7th at home against Lenoir-Rhyne and Converse. The meet will begin at 2:00 p.m.
