HIGH POINT, N.C.- Pfeiffer University’s Renato Barbosa (7-3-0 overall, 4-1-0 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's soccer Player of the Week during week number six in the 2009 season. Senior mid-fielder Renato Barbosa pushed his goal-scoring streak to three-straight games that started last week against No. 11 Anderson, to add to a 2-0 week for the men's soccer team at Pfeiffer University. Barbosa registered a goal and an assist at Lenoir-Rhyne on Tuesday and at Erskine on Saturday.
Barbosa netted the first goal of the match on Tuesday at LRU just 29 seconds in, before breaking a 1-1 tie in the 75th minute assisting on the game-winner. At Erskine on Saturday, Barbosa again tallied the first goal of the match 22 minutes in, before assisting on the insurance goal late in a 3-1 win. On the season, Barbosa has tallied three goals and six assists leading the Falcons to a four-game win streak, with three of those four contests being on the road.
