MISENHEIMER, N.C. Ė An offensive output with 27 shots, 17 on goal, pushed Pfeiffer University past Barton College 4-0 in Conference Carolinas menís soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field. The Falcons put a pair of goals in during each half, advancing their win streak to five-straight matches and their overall record to 8-3, 5-1 in the conference. Bartonís setback dips them to 3-9, 1-5.
In the initial 45 minutes of action, Alex Landim (Brockton, MA) struck first with his fourth goal of the season in the 18th minute. Wilver Menacho (Charlotte, NC) helped set up Landim with his sideline throw in. Nick Brindley (Northampton, ENGLAND) gave the Falcons a two-goal advantage with his fourth strike of the year in the 25th minute from a Johannes Tisell (Molndal, SWEDEN) cross.
Just 40 seconds into the second half, senior Kash Knight delivered his team-leading ninth goal of the year with a tap-in past Barton keeper Brian Riesenberg (Fort Thomas, KY) on a cross inside the box set up by Brandon Stubbs (Milledgeville, GA). Scoring on the afternoon wrapped up with Tisell tossing in an unassisted goal, his second of the season, in the 50th minute.
Alex Moreno (Huntersville, NC) earned the clean sheet in goal for Pfeiffer stopping all five shots on goal. Lloyd OíNeill led the Bulldogs with three shots, two on net. Riesenberg made 13 saves for Barton.
The Falcons will now look to improve on their five-game winning streak during the next match which takes place on Saturday at Chowan. Pfeiffer briefly steps out of conference play on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. match.
