MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University will host the inaugural men’s basketball Highway 52 Shootout on Sunday, November 15th and Monday, November 16th inside the Merner Gymnasium. Three local Division II schools have made a three-year commitment to compete against one another with each school serving as host on a rotating basis.
Along with Pfeiffer, Catawba College and Livingstone College join the inaugural tournament for its first three years in what should prove to be an excellent look at area college basketball and bring tremendous fan interest into one gym. Joining the three schools along highway 52, Cheyney University out of Pennsylvania will complete this year’s four-team field.
Catawba and Livingstone will kick off the day one events at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday while Cheyney and host Pfeiffer will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. Consolation games and Championship games will be played Monday night at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
“The rivalry should be tremendous for players, students and local basketball fans. The crowd will be great as we have agreed to let students from each school in for free with their college ID,” stated Pfeiffer coach Dave Davis. “Coach Stinson and Coach Baker have both had tremendous success and the challenge will be great for all of us in this opening day tournament.”
Tickets prices will be $5 for adults, $3 for kids 6-18 years old, children under 5 free. Students with a school ID from any participating school or anyone with a conference ID will be admitted free as well.
