CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Pfeiffer University stepped out of conference play on Saturday afternoon to sweep the Johnson C. Smith Bulls 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-7) in women’s volleyball action at Brayboy Gym. The victory marks the 12th-straight as the Lady Falcons haven’t dropped a set in six matches. Pfeiffer improves to 15-6 while the Bulls drop to 3-21.
Pfeiffer hit a season-high .426 in the straight-sets win. Brittany Dickens (Raleigh, NC) led the Lady Falcons with 10 kills. Vanessa Gerig (Towanda, IL), currently in the NCAA II top-10 with service aces, added 10 more to her total on Saturday. Jordan O’Bryant (Reidsville, NC) tossed in seven kills as well. Pfeiffer went attack-error free in set three, hitting .800, in a 25-7 win to clinch the match.
The Lady Falcons now take a week off for fall break and get back to action on Sunday, November 18th in a battle of two conference leaders. Pfeiffer will take on the South Atlantic Conference leaders Wingate in a 7:00 p.m. neutral match at Carolina Courts in Charlotte. Wingate won the 2009 season opener against Pfeiffer 3-1.
