WOMEN'S LACROSSE WINS ITS FIFTH-STRAIGHT WITH 13-8 VICTORY VS. FRANKLIN PIERCE

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Liz Melesh registered three goals while Tory Binder scored two with three assists as Pfeiffer University flew past Franklin Pierce 13-8 in women’s lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. The Lady Falcons win their fifth-straight improving to 7-1 overall while Franklin Pierce falls to 1-2.

The Ravens scored just 26 seconds into Thursday’s contest as Mary Kate Stille scored unassisted for a 1-0 lead. Alex Cook bounced the Lady Falcons right back just 1:30 later. Ashley Moirano put Franklin Pierce back up at 24:24 before Binder scored the first of her two with 22:00 to play in the first. Melesh struck less than two minutes later to give Pfeiffer its first lead of the day in front of Brianna Nash squaring things back up 3-3 for the Ravens.

The Lady Falcons went on to tally the next three goals to create a little separation before the half. Allie Gamble, Binder and Heidi Karaszkiewicz each netted a goal to put Pfeiffer up 6-3. The half closed with a Lauren Stille goal for the Ravens while Sarah Hebberd registered with 18 seconds left for a 7-4 Pfeiffer lead.

Pfeiffer took care of business early in the second half sending them to the six point win. Jessica Kennedy scored 48 seconds after the intermission while Melesh netted a pair of goals in a 27-second span for a 10-4 Pfeiffer advantage. Ashley Lamagdeleine scored back-to-back as the Ravens put three-straight on the board for an 11-7 game before Shannon Bonnel and Gamble finished Lady Falcons scoring in the victory.

Pfeiffer will remain in Florida for a Saturday matchup with host Rollins. The opening draw takes place at 12:00 p.m.
