WOMEN'S TENNIS DOESN'T DROP A SINGLE SET IN 9-0 ROMP OF MEREDITH

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University didn’t drop a single set cruising to a 9-0 victory over Meredith College in women’s tennis action on Tuesday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center. The Lady Falcons improve to 8-4 overall while Meredith falls to 3-2.

Pfeiffer swept through doubles action as Alena Krutkina and Jonnell Carpenter scored an 8-3 at number one while Patty Dominguez and Maddy Billeter went 8-2 in the middle position. Meredith’s Casey Collins and Mollie Musgrave put up a fight in the third doubles match, but fell late to the Lady Falcons’ Catie Thomas and Chelsi Haefele 8-5.

In singles action, five of the six Lady Falcons had a blank set in their straight-set wins. Krutkina rolled 6-2, 6-0 at number one while Dominguez went love and five at number two. In the middle, Billeter bounced Ali Flanagan three and four with Thomas knocking off Betty Edwards 6-3, 6-0. Carpenter and Haefele didn’t break much of a sweat in 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2 victories.

The Lady Falcons are back in action Saturday hosting Barton in Conference Carolinas action at 1:00 p.m.
