WILMINGTON, S.C. – The Pfeiffer University women’s cross country team finished 9th at the Adidas Seahawk Invitational on the campus of UNC-Wilmington Friday night. Host UNCW and Campbell tied for first place. The race included NCAA Division I, II, III teams including regional opponents Francis Marion and UNC-Pembroke as well as Barton and St. Andrews from Conference Carolinas.
Pfeiffer was led by junior Kaitlyn Mullis who finished the four kilometer (4k) race in 16:01 concluding in 21st place overall and 4th among Division II/III athletes. Following Mullis was Carrie Early who was running in her first collegiate race after missing her freshman season due to injury. Early ran an 18:28 for 65th position overall.
Finishing out the top five for Pfeiffer were three more sophomores; Yasmin Ingram at 18:48 (75th), Rachel Biggerstaff at 19:18 (80th), and April Hinson at 19:43 (85th). Freshman Nina Ubabuike finished in 21:46 in her first college race.
The Lady Falcons are off this weekend and will next run at the Wingate Invitational on September 25th.
