MISENHEIMER, N.C. Ė Freshman attack Elliot Gilbert (Corning, NY) put home five goals while freshman goalkeeper Hayden Kirk (Farmingdale, NY) turned away 19 shots as Pfeiffer University steamrolled #12 St. Leo University 19-3 in non-conference menís lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon. Nine different players found the back of the net at-least once as the Falcons improve to 2-1 overall while sending the Lions to their first loss of the season at 2-1.

Kirk turned away his 19 shots as the Falcons held the Lions to a season-low three goals. Kirk stopped two in the first and three in the second before knocking down six and eight in the second half. Anthony Lamarca (Sayville, NY) caused a team-high four turnovers as St. Leo committed 19 on the afternoon.

Kory Lutes (Orlando, FL) and Steven Tilmon (Orlando, FL) scored just 21 seconds apart five minutes into the first quarter to give the Falcons an early 2-0 lead. The Lions responded with a Truett Valentine (Alexandria, VA) tally at the 7:35 mark before James Shepherd (St. John, New Brunswick) struck with 5:45 remaining as Pfeiffer carried a 3-1 lead after the first.

The Falcons pulled away in the second 15 minutes outscoring St. Leo 6-0. Gilbert tallied three of his five in the second quarter 31 seconds in and at the 11:28 and 1:34 marks. Zack Clark (Corning, NY) assisted on Gilbertís second hit while Lutes helped out on the third. Tucker Hammock (Marietta, GA) put home his first of the afternoon with 13:06 to go before the half while Robert Hope (Peterborough, Ontario) and Justin Rose did the same for a 9-1 halftime lead. Tilmon chipped in with an assist on Hopeís score at the 10:12 mark while Hammock assisted on Roseís man-up goal at 2:31.

Just 27 seconds into the third quarter, Lions senior Evan Mills (Wesley Chapel, FL) would try to give St. Leo a little second half momentum with his goal to make it 9-2, but Pfeiffer again responded reeling off the next four grabbing a 13-2 lead. Clark would register a short-handed goal at the 13:19 mark while Shepherd scored man-up just 48 seconds later. Gilbert and Shepherd would each strike again before St. Leoís Rob Van Bomel (Tampa, FL) put home the Lions third and final goal of the afternoon with 6:13 left in the third.

Hammock and Tilmon would add the final pair of goals in the third quarter before the Falcons punched in their final four of the afternoon in the fourth quarter. Hammock registered his third and final goal at the 11:29 point of the fourth while Nick Berkompas (Webster, NY) slammed home his goal 1:09 later. Shepherd and Gilbert each closed things out with goals in the final six minutes as the Falcons cruised to victory.

Shepherd led the Falcons on Saturday with four groundballs and six shots on goal along with Gilbert. Billy Rawson (St. Charles, IL) also had four groundballs in the win as 15 Falcons scooped up at-least one.

Pfeiffer will return home on Friday to take on Lake Erie at 3:00 p.m.
