GIMENEZ POSTS TOURNAMENT BEST 78 AS WOMEN'S GOLF TRAILS BELMONT ABBEY BY SIX AFTER ROUND 1 OF DANA RADER INTERCOLLEGIATE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College fired a team round of 325 to lead after day one of the 2011 Dana Rader Intercollegiate held at the long and wet Ballantyne Resort and Golf Club on Monday afternoon. The Crusaders lead by six over host Pfeiffer University and 10 over the University of Findlay. Pfeiffer’s Angela Gimenez posted the low score of the day with a seven-over 78 on the par 71, 5,830-yard layout.

Michele Low led the Crusaders with a 79 going 40-39. Meagan Wallace and Melissa Siviter each finished inside the overall top-10 firing 80 and 81 respectively. Behind Gimenez, the Lady Falcons’ Steph Peareth followed with a 79 carding a 37 front and 421 back. Concord University’s Marina Erice, shooting 79 in the opening round, brought home the best nine holes of the afternoon with a 37 on the backside.

Round two, the tournament’s final round, will begin on Tuesday morning as a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
