CATAWBA HOLDS OFF LATE PFEIFFER RALLY; MEN'S TENNIS FALLS 5-4 IN THE FINAL MATCH

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Visiting Catawba College pulled out a three-set win at #6 singles to take a 5-4 decision over Pfeiffer University in non-conference men's tennis action Wednesday at the Knapp Tennis Center. The win pushes the Indians to 15-9 while the Falcons fall to 6-7.

The Falcons trailed 2-1 after doubles play but rallied late with three singles wins for a four-all match coming down to the final contest. Catawba's Matthew Nicholson and Pfeiffer's Stephen Tyndel went to a pair of tiebreakers in the second and third set to decide the winner. Nicholson eventually came out the winner with a 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-3) victory.
