CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Limestone College defeated Pfeiffer University by a score 10-5 Sunday afternoon in the 2011 Conference Carolinas Men’s Lacrosse Tournament championship game at the Queens Sports Complex. The Saints remain undefeated on the season with the win at 14-0 while Pfeiffer drops to 10-5. The Falcons will have one more regular season contest Saturday traveling to Mars Hill.
The first quarter of play was all Limestone as the Saints outscored the Falcons 4-1.
Pfeiffer came charging back in period two notching three goals to Limestone’s one giving the game a 5-4 score at the break.
The third quarter was quiet as each team tallied only one goal making it a tight game heading in to the final quarter.
With the Falcons on their heels, Limestone was able to score four straight goals in the fourth clinching the tournament final victory.
Limestone outshot the Falcons 38-to-31, while Pfeiffer scooped up 23 ground balls to the Saints’ 20. Pfeiffer also won 11 of the 19 face-offs.
Thomas Langan led the Saints today with a hat trick while Shayne Jackson and Jackson Decker each found the back of the net twice. Jackson and Decker also recorded two assists apiece. Steve Gartelman took the win in goal after collecting 14 saves.
Justin Rose led the Falcons with two goals. Billy Rawson won all 11 face-offs for Pfeiffer. Hayden Kirk took the loss in goal after getting 16 stops.
