MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University women’s soccer head coach Elijah Denton has announced the signing of three more student-athletes who will join the Lady Falcons soccer program in the fall of 2011. Melissa Montoya (Mine Hill, NJ), Jill Maykut (Oviedo, FL) and Hannah Hill (Monroe, NC) have all inked to play college soccer at Pfeiffer.
Montoya enters the Village as a midfielder from Dover High School. In her time with the Tigers, Montoya received all-state and all-county awards to go along with her two years of all-conference honorable mentions. Montoya played her club ball in the northeast with the New Jersey Rangers Liberty.
Maykut will transfer into Pfeiffer as a defender from Polk State College in Florida after her playing days at Lake Howell High School. Maykut was named an All-American at Polk State in 2009 and 2010, while being named the most athletic female on campus in 2009. Maykut, a team captain, has also received all-South region defensive MVP honors from 2006-2009 and named second team all-conference twice. Off the field, Maykut played volleyball and lacrosse in high school as a three-sport star while participating in FHPA and FCA. Her club days were spent with the Central Florida United (CFU) Lightning.
Hill, from nearby Monroe, will begin her collegiate career after a successful campaign at Central Academy of Technology and Arts. Hill held down a pair of positions at midfield and defense as a varsity captain in all four seasons. Hill was named team MVP during her sophomore and junior seasons while registering all-conference and all-region awards. Like Maykut, Hill was also a three-sport athlete adding volleyball and basketball to her resume. In the classroom, Maykut is a National Honor Society member, a volunteer for the US Army Reserve Family Programs and a North Carolina Teaching Fellow Finalist.
The Lady Falcons are tentatively slated to open up the 2011 season on Thursday, September 4th at 4:00 p.m. hosting Newberry in their season opener.
