DEMOREST, G.A. - Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Emily Thomas has named former Pfeiffer University standout Jessie Moulton as the first-ever assistant women's lacrosse coach at Piedmont College. Moulton comes to Piedmont to help build the new women’s lacrosse tradition following a brilliant college career as a multi-sport athlete for the Falcons grabbing Conference Carolinas honors in both women’s lacrosse and women’s soccer.

“Jessie is a great addition to our new women’s lacrosse program at Piedmont College,” stated Coach Thomas of the recent addition to her coaching staff. “Jessie’s experience as a competitive athlete combined with her passion for coaching will work well with the goals we have of building a successful Lady Lion lacrosse tradition at Piedmont.”

Moulton comes to Demorest after helping the Falcons of Pfeiffer to a 43-29 record over four seasons including a 25-12 record in Conference Carolinas play. In her senior year alone, Moulton helped PU to a 12-6 overall record and a second place finish in the CC with a 6-1 mark falling only to conference member Limestone College, the eventual NCAA Division II National Runner-Up.

During her time with the Falcons lacrosse team, Moulton saw action in 65 contests starting 24 over her final two seasons including all 18 in her senior season as she was named to the Conference Carolinas All-Tournament Team during just her second year with the squad. Serving as one of the team captains during the 2009 campaign, the dual attack/midfield combo scored 57 goals in her Pfeiffer career adding 27 assists to bring her point total to 84 while also scooping up 63 ground balls as well.

Moulton’s athletic ability was most definitely not limited to the lacrosse field during her collegiate career as Jessie also moonlighted as an All-Conference caliber women’s soccer player at Pfeiffer. The midfielder from Huntingtown, Maryland helped lead her team to the Conference Carolinas Championship in both 2008 and 2010 as she was named the tournament’s MVP in her senior year with the squad.

Serving as the women’s soccer team’s Co-Captain in 2010, Moulton was an easy All-Conference selection given her 15 total points including six goals scored on the season as Jessie was also named the league’s Player of the Week during the same year. Moulton started 43 games in all for the Falcons while seeing action in 79 contests over her four seasons highlighted by her six-goal performance in her final year with the squad.

In addition to her athletic accolades, Moulton also got it done in the classroom as well for the Falcons being named a scholar athlete for carrying above a 3.0 GPA throughout her time at Pfeiffer. Also on the dean’s list in each semester at the North Carolina institution, Moulton was a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society and also a part of the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities.

Piedmont will not be the first coaching stint for Moulton who spent the summer of 2008 as the Assistant Lacrosse Coach for the Laxadaisy Lacrosse team out of Calvert County, Maryland. During her time with the club, Moulton organized practices while also being responsible for the substitutions and training of the goalies. The Maryland native has also been on the staffs of the Richfield Lacrosse Camp (2009) and the Girls’ Lacrosse Clinic (2008-2010) while most recently working with the camp staffs at Georgia Tech and the Bulls School in 2011.

"I would like to thank Coach Thomas for the opportunity to join the Piedmont coaching staff,” said Moulton of the recent hire. “I am very excited to be a part of the inaugural season of the women’s lacrosse program, and I look forward to helping the Lady Lions establish a strong reputation as a lacrosse power in the Southeast."

Having earned her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Pfeiffer University in December of 2010, Moulton plans to continue her graduate degree work toward a Master of Business Administration from the graduate school at Piedmont College. Moulton will be involved with every facet of the PC women’s lacrosse program including recruiting, practice organization, and game preparation.
